Day 1

Nairobi – Maasai Mara Kenya

This safari starts in Kenya and ends in Rwanda. When you visit Kenya, one of the best tourist attractions that you probably can’t miss out is Maasai Mara. Maasai Mara inhabits so many species of wildlife and birdlife and this is one of the reasons why it has become evident that the reserve is the most visited destination in Kenya. Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall wake up and meet our tour guide in Nairobi. Our guide shall brief you and later drive you to Maasai Mara. Maasai Mara is situated at the Kenya-Tanzania border in the Mara region which is one of the best regions in Africa to watch wildlife. The Mara region has other notable national parks on the other side of Tanzania which include Serengeti National park. The distance from Nairobi to Maasai Mara is 280km and you are likely to arrive at lunch time. Upon arrival, you shall check in your lodge, have lunch. Afterwards, you shall drive to the park for an afternoon game drive. When you arrive at the park, you shall go through the normal park entrance procedures and later start your game drive. In Maasai Mara, it is possible to view the big 5 within just a few kilometers from the park gate. After the game drive, you shall drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Safari at Maasai Mara National Reserve

In Kenya, the only place to watch the great migration is the Maasai Mara. During this event, millions of wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of elands, zebras, and Thomson’s gazelle are seen crossing from Serengeti national park to the Maasai Mara. The big spectacle is watching the animals crossing through the Mara River. If you are lucky enough, you shall witness this event if you visit Kenya between July and October. Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall drive to the park for a morning game drive. After, you shall return to the lodge, have breakfast, pack your lunch and relax for some few minutes. Later, you shall drive back to the park for the rest of the game drive. During the game drive, you are likely to encounter hundreds of species of birds within the park as well as other wildlife species which include lions, elephants, buffaloes, rhinoceros, leopards, hyena, jackals, cheetahs, and others. After an insightful game drive day, you shall back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3

Maasai Mara – Nairobi – Rwanda

Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall drive back to Nairobi to catch a flight to Rwanda. You shall fly to Rwanda and upon arrival in Rwanda; you shall be welcomed by our tour guide. Our company has operations in Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, and Zambia. Whenever you travel to any of those countries, expect the best hospitality services from our staff. Our tour guide shall wait for you at the airport and later, he shall drive you to your hotel in Kigali to spend the rest of the day.

Day 4

Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall be picked by our tour guide who shall drive you around Kigali while witnessing several tourist attractions within the city and the most notable one is the Kigali genocide memorial. Later, you shall be driven to Volcanoes National Park. It takes about 2 and a half hours to arrive in Volcanoes National Park. Upon arrival, you shall drive to your lodge for relaxation and dinner. Most of the lodges around volcanoes national park offers breathtaking views of the surrounding.

Day 5

Gorilla trekking in Rwanda

Early in the morning, you shall wake up and transfer to the park headquarters in Ruhengeri. Upon arrival, you shall meet other tourists who are going to do gorilla trekking. You shall be briefed about what to expect and how to behave in different conditions. After briefing, you shall be accompanied by an armed game ranger and you shall start your trekking journey within volcanoes national park. This exercise requires some level of preparations and fitness. The armed rangers are well-equipped with knowledge about the gorillas. They know about the previous location of the group which you are going to trek and using that knowledge, it is easy to locate the gorilla group. Upon seeing the gorillas, you shall be given 1 hour to watch the gorillas. You shall take as many photos as you can. Later, you shall walk back to the park to receive your gorilla certificate. Afterward, you shall drive back to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 6

Volcanoes National Park to Kigali

This is the last day of the safari. During this day, you shall drive back to Kigali to take a flight back home or you could decide to extend your tour to include other national parks like Akagera national park, Nyungwe or drive to Uganda for other activities. You may be dropped at Kigali International AIrport for flight back home. End of this 6 days Gorilla trekking tour and Masai Mara Wildebeests safari in Kenya.
