What to Expect During Your 2-Day Safari in Nyungwe National Park
- Day 1: Arrival and Heritage Tour Begin your journey by arriving in Nyungwe National Park. The first day focuses on cultural immersion, with a visit to the museum and the ancient royal palace. - Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Nature Walks The second day is all about the wildlife. Start your day early with a chimpanzee trek through Nyungwe’s forest. Transfer to Nyungwe national park and visit the royal palace at Nyanza
Prepare your camera for adventure. Make sure that it is well charged. Very early in the morning after breakfast, our tour guide shall pick you from your desired pickup point and drive you to Nyungwe national park. Along the way, you shall visit the ethnographic museum in Butare which holds over 100000 artifacts giving evidence of Rwanda’s history and different heritage values. Afterwards, you shall travel to the Nyanza palace which is the royal home of two Rwandan kings- king Musinga and king Rudahigwa. Later, you shall transfer to Nyungwe and check in your lodge. Chimpanzee trekking and transfer back to Kigali
Very early in the morning, you shall take breakfast and wait for your guide to pick you up. You shall be picked and transferred to the Nyungwe forest national park headquarters where you shall be briefed about trekking, this normally occurs at 8 am local time. Afterwards, you shall start the trail into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. Due to their constant sounds, it is easy to locate the chimpanzees. And with the help of the park ranger, you shall be assured of success. On encountering the chimpanzees, you shall spend 1 hour viewing carrying on their lives. You shall see them rolling on tree branches, munching fruits, socializing and different experiences. This shall be the perfect time to take breathtaking photos. Afterwards, you shall retreat and move back to the headquarters before driving back to Kigali to end the tour. Depending on your arrival time in Kigali, you could incorporate a simple city tour.
