Day 1: Arusha – Serengeti National park

This is an insightful safari and it is highly customizable according to your travel needs. This safari starts in Tanzania and ends in Uganda. We assume that you are already in Tanzania especially around Arusha-the northern region of Tanzania. Arusha is considered as a gateway to famous national parks like Serengeti National park, Mount Kilimanjaro National park, Ngorongoro crater, Lake Manyara National park and others. Early in the morning after breakfast, our tour guide shall pick you up and drive you to Serengeti national park. This journey is about 235km and you are likely to reach around lunch time. You shall check in your lodge, have lunch, and later drive to Serengeti National park for an afternoon game drive. Serengeti National park is the oldest national park in Tanzania and one of the best national parks to experience wildlife. During your game drive, you are likely to encounter the big 5-lions, Elephants, Rhinoceros, Leopards and buffaloes plus other species. After the game drive, you shall drive back to the lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 2: Serengeti National park- Maasai Mara

Early in the morning, you shall move to the park for another round of game drive. Serengeti National park is known worldwide for its abundance of wildlife. During this day, you shall look out for several species of wildlife and other wildlife experiences. After the mid-afternoon game drive, you shall retreat back to your lodge for lunch and later, you will begin your journey to Maasai Mara. Upon arrival in Maasai Mara, you shall check in your lodge, relax and have dinner. It should be noted that Maasai Mara and Serengeti National parks are found in the same region-the Mara region.

Day 3: Full day game drive at Maasai Mara.

If you visit Maasai Mara during the month of July to October, you are likely to witness the great migration- during this event; millions of wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of Thomson gazelles, Elands and Zebra are seen crossing to the Maasai Mara from Serengeti National park in search of food and pasture. Early in the morning, you shall drive to the park for an early morning game drive. Later, you shall retreat back to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. With packed lunch, you shall drive back to the park for the rest of the game drive. Some of the wildlife species to encounter during the game drive include the big 5-lions, Elephants, leopards, Buffaloes, Rhinoceros; and other species like hyenas, cheetahs, wild dogs, hippopotamus, crocodiles and others. After a wonderful day, you shall drive back to the lodge to mark the end of this beautiful day.

Day 4: Maasai Mara – Nairobi- Uganda

Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall transfer back to Nairobi to get a flight to Uganda. Upon arrival in Uganda, you shall be picked by one of our Ugandan tour guides who shall drive you to your hotel either in Entebbe or Kampala.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National park

Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park along the famous Kampala-Masaka highway. You shall make a stopover at the famous Equator in Kayabwe for photos and simple water equator experiment. Later, you will continue your journey past Mbarara-one of the most historical towns in Uganda and commonly known for pastoralism. You shall witness beautiful farms and several herds of cattle. The journey to Queen Elizabeth takes about 7 hours. Lunch is normally packed in lunch boxes so you can have it along the way. Upon arrival in Queen Elizabeth national park, you shall check in your lodge, refresh a bit, and drive to the park for a boat cruise. This sunset boat cruise along the Kazinga channel is a must-experience event. During the boat cruise, you shall come close to several crocodiles and hippopotamus which reside in the water. You shall be able to take as many photos as you can while witnessing the day turning into the dark. After the boat cruise, you shall drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

You shall wake up early in the morning and take an early morning game drive through the park. Queen Elizabeth national park is the most visited national park in Uganda. The park inhabits several species of wildlife and birdlife. It is possible to witness the big 5-Elephants, lions, leopard, buffaloes, and Rhinoceros while in Queen Elizabeth national park.  Chimpanzee trekking is also possible around the Kyambura gorge and the tree climbing lions along the Ishasha sector shall surely marvel you. Depending on the game drive section that you choose, you shall surely have a great day. After lunch, you shall begin driving to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Upon arrival in Bwindi, you shall check in your lodge and prepare for gorilla trekking.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park

Early in the morning, you shall transfer to the park headquarters to be briefed about gorilla trekking. After the briefing, depending on your gorilla trekking section, you shall be allocated a particular gorilla group to trek. In Bwindi, there are more than 10 habituated gorilla groups. It should be noted that there are many gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable national park but not all gorilla are used to humans. Only those gorillas that have gone through the gorilla habituation process are the ones which are friendly to humans. After the briefing and under the company of an armed park ranger, you shall begin moving into the impenetrable forest of Bwindi to look out for gorilla.  This exercise is possible with the help of park rangers. The park rangers always know the previous location of the gorilla group you are trying to trek and basing on several clues-foot stamps, dung, gorilla nests and others. The park ranger shall give you direction until you meet the gorillas. Upon witnessing the gorillas, you shall be allocated a period of 1 hour to stay with them. A 10-meter distance between you and the gorillas is always encouraged. After taking wonderful photos and witnessing the gorillas’ way of life; you shall walk back to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla certificates. You shall meet your tour guide here and he shall drive you back to your lodge.

Day 8: Bwindi Impenetrable national park.

Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall drive to Kampala or Entebbe international airport to take a flight back home. This tour is highly customizable. You can add as many days as you wish and you could add in more activities like chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park and other destinations like Zanzibar or Rwanda. This day shall mark the end of your safari.
