Day 1: gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali

This tour starts and ends in Kigali. You shall wake up early in the morning and you shall be picked up by the guide at 5am from your pick up point. Make sure that you pack your lunch and take breakfast. You shall start driving through past the outskirts of Kigali until start to witness little housing structures. The distance from Kigali to Volcanoes national park is about 116km which is a 2 hours’ drive. You shall witness the weather changing from dark to dawn. The morning hours are busy hours especially for the farmers as many prefer to cultivate their land early in the morning. Along the way, you shall spot people cultivating land, depending on the season. Finally, you shall arrive at the volcanoes national park headquarters, Ruhengeri, at 8am to attend the briefing. At the headquarters, you shall be allocated the gorilla family to track and the respective park ranger to help you accomplish your mission. With other members of your group, normally a maximum of 8 tourists, you shall start the search for the gorillas. With the help of the park rangers, you shall eventually spot the gorillas after 2-8 hours of search. On spotting them, you shall be allowed to stay with a particular gorilla family group for a period of 1 hour. During this time, you shall witness gorillas’ lifestyle, take some amazing photoshoots and carry those wonderful memories in your brain. Later, you shall transfer back to the headquarters and drive back to Kigali to mark the end of the tour.
