Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

This is one of the best safaris that you can join to get an understanding of Kenya’s wildlife. Early in the morning, preferably after breakfast, our tour guide shall pick you up from your meet up point. After a simple briefing about your safari, you shall start your journey to Amboseli National Park. Amboseli National park is 240km southeast of Nairobi at the Tanzania-Kenya border. After about 6 hours of driving, you shall arrive at the park. Later, you will check in your lodge, refresh, take lunch and later go for an afternoon game drive. You shall explore the Selenkay Conservancy. In the evening, before sunset, you shall have magical views of the backdrop of the snow-capped Kibo of Mount Kilimanjaro. Later, you shall retreat to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:  Morning game drive and Maasai Village Visit

Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall drive to the park for a morning game drive. This shall offer you the opportunity to look out for different species common to the park. Lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffe, free-range Elephants, and others. Later, you shall retreat and drive back to the lodge. Relax a bit and later visit the Maasai Village with the help of a Maasai Instructor. During the visit to the Maasai Village, you shall learn about the several aspects of their way of life. You will retreat and move back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Full day game drive at Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National park is known for free-range Elephants. It is one of the few places around the world where you can come so close to an Elephant. The park is at the border between Kenya and Tanzania and it offers the best backdrop images of Mount Kilimanjaro. There are various different types of wildlife that inhabit within Amboseli national park and these include: Maasai giraffe, lion, Impala, Cape buffalo, spotted hyena, Blue wildebeest, Grant’s zebra, and others. Early in the morning after breakfast, you shall pack up your lunch in a lunch box and later drive to the park for a full day game drive. First, you shall take the morning and mid-afternoon game drive, you shall relax a bit and take lunch at the observational hill and later finish off the day with an afternoon game drive. All these drives offer completely different experiences.  You shall be in a position to have breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Later, you shall drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Amboseli National park to Maasai Mara

Early in the morning after a tasty and delicious breakfast, you shall drive to Maasai Mara. Upon arrival in Maasai Mara, you shall drive to lodge, relax, take lunch and later move to the park for an afternoon game drive. Later, you shall drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight to mark the end of the day.

Day 5: full day game drive at Maasai Mara.

For years, Maasai Mara has remained the most visited destination in Kenya. The game reserve is stacked with hundreds of wildlife animals and different species of birds. The park is blessed with Antelopes, Impalas, duikers, Zebras, Leopard, hippopotamus, crocodiles, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, the big five-lions, leopard, Elephants, Buffalo, and the Rhinos and others. Early in the morning, you shall drive to the park for a morning game drive while you are looking out for several wildlife species and experiences. Later you shall return to the lodge, relax a bit and take breakfast. Later, you shall drive to the lodge for a nature walk, mid-afternoon game drive and afternoon game drive.  After the game drives, you shall return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Second full day game drive at Maasai Mara

This is the second full day game drive in Maasai Mara. During this full day game drive, you shall take all the 3 game drives-morning, mid-afternoon, and afternoon games drive. However, during this day, you shall be looking out for some of the experiences that you missed out during the previous day. After the game drive, you shall return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. If you are fortunate enough and you visit during the great wildebeest migration, you shall witness millions of wildebeest, and hundreds of thousands of Thomson’s gazelles, Topis, elands and zebras are seen crossing from Serengeti National park to Maasai Mara in search of the green pastures.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable national park

Early in the morning, you shall transfer to the park headquarters to be briefed about gorilla trekking. After the briefing, depending on your gorilla trekking section, you shall be allocated a particular gorilla group to trek. In Bwindi, there are more than 10 habituated gorilla groups. It should be noted that there are many gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable national park but not all gorilla are used to humans. Only those gorillas that have gone through the gorilla habituation process are the ones which are friendly to humans. After the briefing and under the company of an armed park ranger, you shall begin moving into the impenetrable forest of Bwindi to look out for gorilla.  This exercise is possible with the help of park rangers. The park rangers always know the previous location of the gorilla group you are trying to trek and basing on several clues-foot stamps, dung, gorilla nests and others. The park ranger shall give you direction until you meet the gorillas. Upon witnessing the gorillas, you shall be allocated a period of 1 hour to stay with them. A 10-meter distance between you and the gorillas is always encouraged. After taking wonderful photos and witnessing the gorillas’ way of life; you shall walk back to the park headquarters to receive your gorilla certificates. You shall meet your tour guide here and he shall drive you back to your lodge.

Day 7: Maasai Mara – Nairobi

Early in the morning, you shall drive to Nairobi to mark the end of this wonderful 7 day experience in Maasai Mara and Amboseli National park.
