Amboseli National Park is the second most visited national parks in Kenya. The park is situated at the Kenya – Tanzania border about 240 km southeast of Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.The park is also accessible via air transportation.  It is possible to take a charter flight to Amboseli Airport, the local airport in the area. The word Amboseli translates to “salty dust” in English. With an area of 392km2, the park inhabits so many wildlife and bird species. There are many attractions to allure you to this amazing wonderful park and these include:

Wildlife in Amboseli National Park

The park’s main activity is game viewing. There are so many wildlife species like Elephants, Masai giraffe, lion, spotted hyena, blue wildebeest, impala,grant’s zebra, Cape buffalo, cheetah, and others.  The park is notable for being the best place to view free-ranging Elephants up close. This park was home to Echo, the most researched Elephant in the world which died at the age of 60. Most of these animals have survived due to the park rules and the long dry months.

Views of Mount Kilimanjaro at Amboseli

Once you get to the park, in the background, you shall view Mount Kilimanjaro. The park is at the border of the Kenya-Tanzania border and it offers the best views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Although, you may not be able to climb up to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, having clear views of the greatest free-standing mountain in the world shall offer some inspirations and memories.

The Maasai tribe around Amboseli National Park

One of the things that you notice about the area surrounding Amboseli National Park is that it is a region for the Maasai. The ‘Maasai tribe’ is one of the most popular tribes in Kenya.
